John Gauthier

Director of Housing and Services

John (he/they) joined SHCNM in January 2019 as a Housing Specialist and now serves as Chief Programs Officer overseeing SHCNM’s Community Development Department which encompasses the voucher programs administered by SHCNM as well as it's grant writing and fundraising initiatives. The Voucher programs currently consist of Housing First, Family Vouchers, Chuska Permanent Supportive Housing, Downtown@700 & 2nd and Casita Bonita. The programs serve individuals and families that have experienced chronic homelessness with a diagnosed disabling condition.

Prior to moving to Albuquerque, John oversaw program compliance and grant writing for an organization that served 3 counties in Southwest Missouri. Even though he received his bachelors in Sociology, with a minor in music performance, from Missouri State University he is originally from the small desert town of Phelan, California. Outside of work John enjoys spending time with family, exploring/hiking the New Mexico landscapes, and reading Science Fiction.
